We are Supernatural, We carry the Flame

Watching the critically acclaimed CW network TV show "Supernatural" and making people fall into the propaganda of watching it (personal experience btw) feels like passing on the flame to someone. If I were to describe the show, it would mean telling you that all your nightmares are real, angels are as evil as demons, god is a deadbeat dad, apparently tinker bell exists and if you got ptsd with daddy issues, you'll love Dean Winchester.
Supernatural is a thriller, if I were to put it in categorical terms, where we explore the stories of Sam and Dean Winchester, two siblings and brothers in arms as they carry out a fully fledged rampage against the forces of evil or whatever is threatening humanity. Seasons one through five of Supernatural are one of the best television series seasons I've probably ever watched. We watch the boys as they live through grief, find answers and then are hit with more questions. There's the typical monster of the week scenario, where in every new episode the two brothers face some monster whether it be werewolves, vampires, wendigos. When it is not monster of the week, we see the boys figure out the world around them and how crooked it is. There's revelations, there's drama and there's a severe ton of emotional baggage to unpack. These episodes act as the canon episodes which actually progress the story while the others are fillers. To be completely honest, Supernatural has got to have some of the most brilliant filler episodes ever. But as for the canon episodes, the lore in the show is immaculate as every single bit of information for any monster, whatever it might be, is properly explained. Even the biblical jargon whenever referenced is followed up with apt lore. Writing wise too, the episodes are brilliantly paced and the world building(mostly through fillers) is done to the optimum amount so that the fanbase can properly invest themselves. That is a cool thing that many shows fail to achieve.
Season 5 was the supposed ending for the show, that's what the writer Erik Kripke imagined as the actual ending. But as corporate greed did its thing, the ending wasn't achieved in season 5, INSTEAD the show ran till Season 15, and for around 15 years. It is remarked as the longest running live action fantasy series on American Television. It's good and all, as expected season 6 was alright, season 7-8 were decent, with season 8 having a very great ending. But the writing started to falter in season 9 where it henceforth started a violent downfall in the quality of the episodes.
Don't get me wrong, some episodes were still genuinely great, you'll find quite a number of great episodes from that era but the quantity of “good” episodes diminished rapidly. They couldn't stick to one writer after Kripke left in season 6 to assume other roles, namely as Executive Producer of the show. The constant changing writers meant many different visions clashing upon the same thing, and it resulted in the poor quality of writing we saw.
I wouldn't call this show “unwatchable” after season 5, but I would consider it a downgrade from what the first five seasons gave us.
Supernatural as a whole does have its flaws like I mentioned earlier, yet this show has a feeling of endearment attached with it. The characters are extremely likeable, you might get bored of them dying and coming back so many times (Spoilers: It happens a LOT) but one thing is you can't deny that you don't love them. Dean and Sam especially ooze a ton of personality out of them. And their dynamic too, how they are brothers yet they ignore all their issues and refuse to talk about them with each other. That's like their most annoying characteristic, yet it is very memorable and also a WikiHow article on how to not treat your brother 101.
Dean and Sam Winchester is a duo you'll remember, this is a show you'll have close to your hearts forever because the fifteen seasons present you an experience dealing with “Saving People, Hunting Things” that is genuinely so peak.
Well, as for my verdict on this show, it's awesome, it's a solid eight on a scale of 10.
If you're a fan of shows which have characters and lore you can obsess over, fantasy worlds with intricate details and wish to be engaged for quite a while to watch the fifteen seasons, this show is definitely worth a try. Even if you don't wish to continue further, you should try watching it till season five, with select episodes being watched from further seasons.
But as per my suggestion y'all should watch the show, unless you want angels, demons or monsters to be set loose on you by yours truly.
